MUM implicitly ensures data base consistency

Consistency

Contact

Information consistency is fundamental in central Master Data Management and particularly challenging in the organizational environment. It is a fact that tools ensure the validity of information in pre-systems and existing data pools in part only. Personnel data derived from the HR system is valid if it is used in accounting. Data which is maintained in a number of individual data bases or Excel charts is reduced to a great extent.

consistency

MUM organizes and consolidates your data centrally even if the information spans across several sources. And MUM ensures data consistency so that you can easily edit and use your data.

MUM gives you, at different levels, vast opportunities of content consistency and of change handling.  In particular MUM:

  • implicitly defines validation rules,
  • provides specific business logics at critical positions in the system (especially during data transfers with other systems) and
  • supports the checking of certain information to be used for a specific purpose by defined roles

Example:
Existing data is checked by validation rules on regular terms and according to individual validation rules. Organizational objects shall, however, be checked and explicitly released by the legal department whenever the company structure will be applied in the business report. In the event objects which have already been approved for the business report are modified later, they shall be checked and released immediately thereafter.
